The disruption of SPOKANIS by the falling of a yet-to-be identified
space hulk has provided an opportunity for us to gather vital
intelligence and materials for our efforts. Priority targets have been
identified and reconnaissance must be conducted before material
extraction can begin.

EMPEROR’S OWN strike team engaged in reconnaissance activity upon
insertion into the area of operations. Initial scouting time cost us
the initiative and allowed enemy forces to prepare defensive positions
while the strike team scouted. This outcome is seen as an unavoidable
consequence of recon activities.

Spotted a force of Chaos Legionaries. Initial field identification led
to the belief the force belongs to the Emperor’s Children Chaos
Legion. [SEE ADDENDUM 001]

Initial engagement began shortly after 1900 hours. OPERATIVE Siegfried
deployed mines in the target zone to limit OPPOSITION advance.
OPERATIVE Siegmund captured AOI 3 while OPERATIVEs Hagen, Gunther, and
SERGEANT Woton advanced. OPERATIVE Donner captured AOI 5. Visual
obstruction prevented initial firefighting. OPPOSITION force captured
AOI 2 and AOI 4.

Engagement escalated. OPPOSITION forces engaged OPERATIVE Siegmund in
melee combat. OPERATIVE Siegmund was incapacitated. SERGEANT Woton
deployed SIGNAL BEACON. OPERATIVE Siegfried engaged an OPPOSITION unit
at range, inflicting an unknown amount of wounds. OPERATIVE Hagen was
engaged by multiple OPPOSITION units at range and suffered heavy
wounds. OPERATIVE Hagen was incapacitated. SERGEANT Woton engaged in
melee combat, incapacitating one OPPOSITION unit and wounding another
with small arms fire. OPERATIVE Seigfried was engaged at range from
multiple OPPOSITION units and incapacitated. SERGEANT Woton was
engaged in melee and incapacitated the aggressor. No territory
shifted.

Mid-battle each strike team continued to fortify their positions. At
the time of battle it was not noticed, but review of auspex scans and
augur imagery indicates OPPOSITION forces performed foul rituals on
incapacitated strike team members [SEE ADDENDUM 002]. SERGEANT Woton
came under heavy fire sustaining several injuries. SERGEANT Woton
incapacitated an enemy OPERATIVE with small arms fire and captured AOI
2. SERGEANT Woton was incapacitated by return fire. OPERATIVE Gunther
incapacitated an OPPOSITION member and was unable to revive SERGEANT
Woton. OPERATIVE Donner was engaged and incapacitated in melee combat.
OPPOSITION seized AOI 5 and AOI 1, claiming dominance of the AREA of
OPERATION.

With both sides having suffered heavy casualties, OPERATIVE Gunther
retreated from the OPPOSITION and secured the SIGNAL BEACON. Wounded
strike team members were able to withdraw from the AREA of OPERATION.

WATCH INTELLIGENCE considers this operation to be a strategic FAILURE.
The EMPEROR’S OWN strike team failed to establish control of the ruins
of the SPOKANIS PRIMUS FORGE. Because of this we are unable to extract
production instructions for the PLASMA REACTORS needed to further
other strategic goals.

Tactically the placement of the SIGNAL BEACON has allowed more
accurate augury imaging of the area. Auspex and vox signals read
clear, future operations in the PRIMUS FORGE will be aided by this
imaging.

While WATCH INTELLIGENCE has been unable to confirm the elimination of
the OPPOSITION’s field commander, the brief removal of the commander
from the AREA of OPERATION will undoubtedly cause confusion.

All OPERATIVES were successfully extracted from the AREA of OPERATION.
None of the casualties seemed to have suffered long lasting injuries.

NAVAL STRATEGIC COMMAND has approved more requisition budget for
continuous operations in ZONE SPOKANIS.

001) Analysis of vox interceptions, auspex scans, and witness
testimony confirms the identity of the OPPOSITION force as belonging
to the Emperor’s Children. WATCH INTELLIGENCE believes with an 85%
accuracy engaged unit was the elite kill team known as The Epicureans.

002) The medicae team reports no obvious signs of long term effect.
Due to lack of available reinforcements affected strike team members
are to be redeployed and observed.
