The disruption of SPOKANIS by the falling of a yet-to-be identified space hulk has provided an opportunity for us to gather vital intelligence and materials for our efforts. Priority targets have been identified and reconnaissance must be conducted before material extraction can begin.

NAVAL COMMAND planetary augurs have located an abnormal outcropping in the wastes of SPOKANIS. We believe this may be some sort of CHAOS ALTAR. WATCH INTELLIGENCE has requested that the EMPEROR’S OWN secure the CHAOS ALTAR and make a complete record of the area. WATCH INTELLIGENCE is interested in learning as much as possible about the increasing hold the RUINOUS POWERS have on SPOKANIS. Any information gathered will help us hamper the efforts of CHAOS at home.

The EMPEROR’S OWN inserted into the AREA of OPERATION near the CHAOS ALTAR. After initial recon, a band of CHAOS BEASTS [SEE ADDENDUM 1] approached the AREA of OPERATION. The EMPEROR’S OWN fanned out to prevent the recapture of the CHAOS ALTAR. MARKSMAN LOGE and MINELAYER SIEGFRIED advanced quickly to delay the enemy approach. MARKSMAN LOGE climbed the CHAOS ALTAR and wounded the ENEMY LEADER, neutralizing them with a snap follow-up shot. MINELAYER SIEGFRIED neutralized an ENEMY CHAOS BEAST [SEE ADDENDUM 2]. VOX-BREAKER HAGEN advanced to POINT of INTEREST 5. An ENEMY CHAOS BEAST deploys a noxious gas targeting VOX-BREAKER HAGEN and affecting his ability to maneuver effectively. The remaining members of the EMPEROR’S OWN advanced and took defensive positions.

An ENEMY CHAOS BEAST climbed the CHAOS ALTAR and engaged MARKSMAN LOGE in melee combat, wounding him. VOX-BREAKER HAGEN continued to engage ENEMY CHAOS BEASTS but was unable to prevent their advance before falling back to a more defensible position. MARKSMAN LOGE fell back but was pursued by an ENEMY CHAOS BEAST [SEE ADDENDUM 3] who incapacitated him. VETERAN SIEGMUND neutralized the ENEMY CHAOS BEAST that incapacitated MARKSMAN LOGE. An ENEMY CHAOS BEAST deployed more noxious gas affecting both MINELAYER SIEGFRIED and VOX-BREAKER HAGEN. MINELAYER SIEGFRIED deployed his HAYWIRE MINE near POINT of INTEREST 5. SERGEANT WOTON and VETERAN SIEGMUND were then overrun and incapacitated in melee combat.

The band of ENEMY CHAOS BEASTS advanced, taking significant ground. The HAYWIRE MINE briefly delayed this advance by neutralizing one of the belligerents. Shortly after both MINELAYER SIEGFRIED and VOX-BREAKER HAGEN were overrun and incapacitated by an ENEMY CHAOS BEAST blitz offensive. The remaining active member of the EMPEROR’S OWN, COMMSMAN DONNER, withdrew from the AREA of OPERATION.

NAVAL COMMAND considers this operation a complete FAILURE. We know nothing more about the RUINOUS POWERS and our only operatives on SPOKANIS are scattered across the wastes. It seems every time we find something of value on this DOG EMPEROR forsaken rock we find ourselves outnumbered and out maneuvered at every turn. It has become increasingly clear that we are not presently equipped for continued operations in the system. Which is unfortunate given that our operatives have no way home at present. From this moment all NAVAL COMMAND resources expended on the SPOKANIS operation will be for the end goal of retrieving the EMPEROR’S OWN.

The simple truth is that we came prepared for a shooting war and the variety of enemies we are encountering is nothing like we anticipated and we have been taken by complete surprise. While NAVAL COMMAND cannot issue formal orders to SERGEANT WOTON or the EMPEROR’S OWN. The team should begin making preparations for extraction.

We have no records for this particular organization of CHAOS BEASTS. Most of our records indicate CHAOS BEASTS are used as cannon fodder or horde troops by the RUINOUS POWERS. These CHAOS BEASTS seemed incredibly resilient fighting on for longer than they should have given the wounds they sustained. SERGEANT WOTON requests WATCH INTELLIGENCE forwards any information on record and conduct a study into this breed of CHAOS BEAST.
